Meta Muse Features: Everything It Can (and Can't) Do
Published 7 min read
Meta Muse features go well beyond chat. Muse is Meta’s AI agent, so it does tasks: it sends emails, browses websites, books things and shops for you. It asks for your OK before sensitive steps like purchases.
If you’re new, start with our guide to what Meta Muse is. This page covers the Muse AI features you can use today and where Muse falls short. It also logs every major update as of October 2026.
Muse app features at a glance

What can Meta Muse do?
Meta Muse can take real actions for you, not just answer questions. Meta’s launch post lists sending email, booking travel, filling out forms, negotiating, making purchases and planning toward goals.
Built-in skills
Meta’s Help Center lists these built-in skills:
- Research
- Web browsing
- Documents and PDFs
- Dashboards
- Image generation
- Audio and podcasts
- A morning news digest
- Scheduled tasks
- Location reminders
Memory
Muse remembers details you mention and acts on them later. You can read and edit its memory files, or ask it to forget something.
Other parts of the app
- Chat and side chats for keeping topics separate
- Goals for working toward bigger plans
- Ideas with suggested tasks to try
- An activity log and an Upcoming list of scheduled tasks
- An avatar you can name and style
- Proactive messages you can turn up, down or off
On a Mac, Muse can also work with your files, Messages, Notes, Reminders, Mail and Calendar. It only does this if you allow it, says Meta’s Mac help page.
Tasks Meta Muse can handle
Muse can handle everyday chores across email, travel, shopping, home life and small business work. Here’s a breakdown based on Meta’s examples and news reports:
| Area | Example tasks | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Watch school emails, add dates to a calendar, flag deadlines | You pick read-only or read-and-send; it asks before sending | |
| Travel | Book flights and hotels, plan trips | Flights go through Duffel, Skift reported |
| Shopping | Buy items, watch for price drops | Every purchase needs your approval |
| Home life | Turn a recipe reel into a grocery list, plan a dinner party | It remembers guests’ diets |
| Money | Lower a bill, sell a car for more | These are Meta’s examples; results vary |
| Calls | Call US businesses for you | In beta since about September 17, 2026 |
| Business | Review ads, draft social posts, check monthly finances | Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without approval |

How well does it work?
Early results are mixed. A Tom’s Guide headline said only 3 of 7 shopping prompts worked. A TechRadar tester was told Muse could save $1,000 and saved $35.
Our Meta Muse review sums up what reviewers found.
Can Meta Muse browse the web?
Yes, Meta Muse can browse the web using its own browser on its cloud computer. Meta’s Help Center says it can book appointments, buy things, fill out forms and watch for price drops.
You stay in control. You can open the browser to watch what Muse is doing, take over or stop it.
Muse can’t see your passwords. Meta says your logins sit in a secure store and get filled in without the AI seeing them.
Where browsing hits limits
- Logins and codes. Muse can’t get past logins and SMS codes on its own. You’ll need to step in.
- Blocked sites. Amazon has blocked Muse since September 20, 2026. Some banks, including Schwab, block agents from moving money, TNW reported. Some airlines, Delta among them, reportedly don’t work with third-party agents.
- Ads. Meta says Muse’s browsing looks like your own activity. Sites it visits can affect the ads you see on Instagram and other Meta apps.
By default, Muse asks before sharing your info or using an unfamiliar site. You can make it more careful in Settings > Permissions.
Can Meta Muse make payments?
Yes, Meta Muse can make payments, but every purchase needs your approval. Meta’s payments page also says you’re responsible for the purchases you make through Muse.
How paying works
- Link by Stripe: Muse makes a one-time card for each purchase. That card works for one store, one amount and a short time window.
- Saved cards: Muse can check out on sites where you’ve already saved a card. It needs your OK every time.
- Shop Pay and PayPal: Meta added both as checkout options. Shopify’s CEO said Shop Pay checkout would work across Shopify stores.
Meta says Muse is “the first AI agent covered by Link’s purchase protections.” Muse also can’t see your card details.

Frequently asked questions
Does Meta Muse remember things?
Yes. Meta says Muse remembers details you mention, even just once, and uses them later. You can read and edit its memory files, or tell it to forget something. Deleting a chat doesn't erase what Muse learned. Ask it to forget, or use Reset, which deletes your history, files and active tasks for good.
What agent abilities does Muse have that a chatbot doesn't?
A chatbot answers your messages. Muse can act. It has its own cloud computer and browser. It can fill out forms, book appointments and check out online with your approval. It connects to apps like Gmail and keeps working after you close the app. It can even message you first when something changes.
