Meta Muse Not Working? Here's How to Fix It

Published 7 min read

Meta Muse not working? Whether the Muse app won’t open or a task keeps failing, most problems have a simple cause. Think of an old app version, a dropped connection, a used-up weekly limit, or a stale app connection.

The quick fixes below solve the common ones in a few minutes.

If you’re still learning how Meta Muse works, that helps here too. Muse is an AI agent that works on its own cloud computer. Some “failures” are really Muse waiting for your approval.

Meta says Muse “will sometimes make mistakes.” There’s no official status page to show if Meta Muse is down. There’s no support phone line either, so you’ll mostly fix things yourself.

Symptom Most likely fix
App won’t open or keeps crashing Update the app and restart your device
Muse stopped replying mid-week Check your usage limit
Gmail or another app won’t connect Reconnect it in Settings > Connectors
“We disconnected Muse to protect your information” Secure your Meta account, then report the issue in the app
A task stopped halfway Check if Muse is waiting for your approval or a login
App isn’t in your store Muse may not be offered in your country

Meta Muse not working: quick fixes

Start with the simple fixes below, in order. They’re common steps that clear up most app problems, and each one takes a minute or two.

  1. Check your internet connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then try again.
  2. Update the Muse app. Meta ships updates often, so install the newest version from your app store.
  3. Close the app and restart your device. This clears out a stuck session.
  4. Check your usage limit. The free plan has a weekly limit. When you hit it, Muse pauses until it refreshes. See our Meta Muse pricing guide for your options.
  5. Look for approval requests. Muse may be waiting for you to approve an action before it carries on.
  6. Sign out and sign back in with your Meta Account.
  7. Reconnect the app that’s failing. Go to Settings > Connectors, disconnect it, then connect it again.
  8. Check your permissions. In Settings > Permissions, make sure Muse is allowed to use the app or website it needs.
  9. Try the web app at muse.ai. If it works there, the problem is likely your phone or the app version.
  10. Check your country and device. Muse only runs in some countries and needs iOS 18 or later on iPhone.

Still not working? Contact Meta's official Muse support(official site, opens in a new tab)

Meta’s Help Center explains how Muse works, but it doesn’t list fixes for most errors. To report a bug, users in Meta’s community forums point to Settings > Help & support > Report an issue. Say what you asked Muse to do and what happened.

We couldn’t find an official Muse support email or phone number as of October 2026. Ignore any site that offers a “Muse support” number. Never share your password with anyone who contacts you about Muse.

Meta Muse app keeps crashing

If the Muse app keeps crashing, update it first, then restart your device. Meta has released several app updates since launch, and bug fixes usually ship in them. Version 13, in late October 2026, included VoiceOver fixes, for example.

If it still crashes:

  • Check your iOS version. The App Store listing needs iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. Meta hasn’t published Android requirements.
  • Delete and reinstall the app. Meta says your Muse and its data live on a cloud computer, not only on your phone. Deleting the app also doesn’t cancel a paid plan.
  • Use muse.ai while you wait. The web app signs you in with the same Meta account.

Make sure you’re using the real app. Only download “Muse from Meta,” where the seller is Meta Platforms, Inc. Use these official store links:

Meta Muse can’t connect to apps

If Muse can’t connect to an app, disconnect it and connect it again in Settings > Connectors. Meta’s connectors help page says you can also just ask Muse. Try “Connect my Gmail,” then follow the sign-in steps.

Other things to check:

  • Is the app actually supported? Meta’s connectors include Gmail, Google Workspace, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, calendar apps, Notion, GitHub and Box, among others. Meta hasn’t listed Outlook as a connector as of October 2026.
  • Facebook, Instagram and Threads connect on their own only if they’re in the same Accounts Center as your Meta Account.
  • On a Mac, each app can be set to Off, Read only, or Read and interact. That’s per Meta’s Mac help page. Check that the app isn’t set to Off.
  • In Japan, Gmail and Google Calendar worked at launch. Mercari and Money Forward ME were listed as coming “soon.”

Some services block AI agents, so no fix on your side will help:

  • Amazon has blocked Muse from its site since September 20, 2026, The Star reported.
  • Some banks, including Schwab and JPMorgan, block agents from moving money, according to TNW.
  • Some airlines don’t work with third-party agents. Delta was reported as one.

Our guide on how to use Meta Muse covers the full setup, including connecting apps.

Meta Muse login problems

Most Muse login problems are fixed by signing out and back in with your Meta Account. If that fails, check that your Meta Account itself works, for example by signing in to it somewhere else.

For step-by-step sign-in help on the app, web and Mac, see our Muse AI login guide.

“We disconnected Muse to protect your information”

Some users report this message after a security event on their Meta account, such as a recovery or reactivation. The message asks them to submit a feedback ticket to reconnect. In Meta’s community forums, some said the ticket form failed or that they got no reply or case number.

Meta hasn’t published an official fix for this lockout as of October 2026. Here’s what users say they tried:

  • Running Meta’s account recovery or Security Checkup
  • Signing out and back in
  • Tapping Reconnect
  • Reporting it in the app under Settings > Help & support > Report an issue

One user said it worked after replacing their authenticator app, checking their linked Google account’s security activity, then tapping Reconnect. That’s one person’s report, not a confirmed fix.

Logins on websites

Muse can’t get past most logins and text-message codes on its own. A TechRadar reviewer found it needed a human at those steps. Meta also says its email connector hides one-time codes and password reset links on purpose, for safety. So if a task stops at a login, that’s expected. Sign in yourself, then let Muse continue.

Meta Muse task failed: what to do

If a Muse task failed, first check whether it’s waiting for you. Muse keeps working after you close the app and comes back when it needs approval, a login or more details.

Then work through these steps:

  1. Read the activity log. It shows what Muse did and where it stopped.
  2. Check your usage limit. On the free plan, work pauses when you hit the weekly limit.
  3. Watch or take over. For web tasks, you can open Muse’s browser to watch, take control, or stop it.
  4. Make the request smaller. Split a big job into a few clear steps.
  5. Add details. Name the site, the dates, the budget or the person.
  6. Check if the site blocks agents. Amazon and some banks and airlines do.

Meta warns that “Muse may take unexpected actions. Monitor it carefully.” Some actions can’t be undone, like a sent email. If you’re unsure, set permissions to “Always ask” so Muse checks with you before each action.

Frequently asked questions

How do I report a Muse error?

Users in Meta's community forums say you can report a problem in the app under Settings, then Help & support, then Report an issue. Describe what you asked Muse to do and what went wrong. We couldn't find an official Muse support email or phone number, so be careful with any site that offers one.

Is Meta Muse down right now?

Meta doesn't run an official Muse status page, so there's no live outage info from Meta. To check, try muse.ai in a browser and the app on a different network. If both fail, look for recent posts about Muse on social media or unofficial outage trackers. If only one task fails, the problem is likely that task.
